Another Domino N610i Ink Jet Label Press Installed In Spain

Barcelona-based Conver Autoadhesivos SA has recently taken delivery of a Domino N610i ink jet label press, marking their first step into the world of digital printing.

The company, founded in 1964, specialises in the printing of self-adhesive labels for industrial and commercial distribution, with a global customer base operating across a wide variety of sectors. These include chemical, industrial, automotive, household products, personal care, food & beverage, as well as the transport & logistics sectors.

Using a selection of different printing technologies, the business delivers a comprehensive range of labeling solutions to its customers, from simple product labeling applications to cardboard, thermal, electro-magnetic and RFID security labels, through to linerless rolls and shrink sleeves.

Mr David Brugalla, Managing Director at Conver explains what prompted the company to make the move from flexo to digital printing: “In response to increased customer demand for shorter print runs and reduced lead times, it became apparent that it was no longer economical to continue running these jobs on flexo presses and we realised that it was time for us to start our digital adventure.”

After conducting a thorough review of the different digital printing technologies available, Conver came to the decision that ink jet was the most appropriate and cost effective solution for most of its existing short and medium run jobs. It would complement Conver’s existing technology, and enable expansion by opening up new business opportunities in the future.

The company visited a number of digital ink jet press manufacturers along with several label printers who were already using ink jet technology. The determining factors in the selection of the press would be print quality, how easy the system was to operate, software, and the cost of production and consumables.

David continues, “After an exhaustive study of the ink jet market, we selected the 5 colour Domino N610i label press due to its excellent print quality, high productivity and its cost-effective production costs. The high opacity of the white ink will also allow us to move jobs over to the Domino press that we have previously silk-screen printed. Domino’s extensive experience of developing and manufacturing proven and reliable ink jet technologies was another key contributing factor in our decision.”

David concludes, “Conver is a business that constantly innovates and we are happy to take our first step into digital printing in partnership with Domino. We intend to use the N610i label press to reduce our delivery times for short and medium run jobs, whilst maintaining our print quality policy at competitive costs.”
