Lausanne, Switzerland – 21st October, 2021 – EAU NEUVE / Ô9, from La Compagnie des Pyrénées, and I’m Baby, both packaged in Tetra Pak cartons, have won in the “Best in Carton” and “Best New Water Concept” categories at this year’s Global Water Drinks Awards, celebrated virtually on October 20th. These awards are designed to celebrate excellence and innovation across every category of the packaged water industry.

The recognition reinforces Tetra Pak’s commitment to developing low carbon packaging solutions for its customers as the company helps them accelerate their journey towards a circular economy.

Topping the ranking in the “Best in Carton” category was EAU NEUVE / Ô9. Created to minimise the impact of its operations and promote local development by adopting a 360° approach to responsible development, EAU NEUVE / Ô9 is the first French mineral water brand packaged in a Tetra Top® carton package. Available in two formats – 500ml and 330ml – and leveraging a low carbon, 88% plant-based packaging solution, EAU NEUVE / Ô9 is ideally established to offer a different, mindful approach to bottled water consumption. Furthermore, the customer capitalises on the shape and the large printing surface of the Tetra Top® carton to stand out on shelf, with all sides used to highlight the differentiating and innovative value proposition.

Winning the “Best New Water Concept” was I’m Baby. The microplastic-free pure water from Italy is designed specifically for small children and suitable for the whole family. It is available in a Tetra Prisma® Aseptic package that protects the water from light and oxygen, therefore keeping the water quality intact until opened. In addition, the carton’s composition – 76% renewable sources, including paperboard and plant-based plastics from sugar cane – proved particularly attractive for the customer.

These achievements demonstrate further how innovation and collaboration are key when supporting customers in their desire to reduce the environmental impact of their packaging choices. Tetra Pak® cartons are made predominantly from plant-based materials and this award reinforces the importance of working with partners to develop the world’s most sustainable food package.
